History of the modern day Parrottino's:

Guiseppe Parrottino - Born 1869, Died 1911

The modern Parrottino's who are living in the states today are descendants of Guiseppe Parrottino.  He married Rosa Scalise who was born 1872 and died in 1931.   The Parrottino's were farmers or peasants as Antonio (Guiseppe's son) listed on his legal papers and came from Calabria.

Calabria is the most southern state in Italian boot and most of it is in the toe.  Catanzaro is one of the providences in the state of Calabria and is located in the narrowest point of the toe.  It's only 26 miles to the Adriatic Sea.

Antonio Parrottino - Born November 11, 1889, Died January 29, 1971

Ceasare had a large estate on the outskirts of Ponte Grande on which he would get around on horseback.  Ceasare died at the age of 39 after a fall from his horse.  Annina was just 2 years old at the time.

Antonio and Annina were married on December 16, 1909.  Here is a later picture.

The Parrottino's were in business of collecting fruits, vegetables and meats from around the country side and taking them to the market in the city of Catanzaro.  They had four children in Italy:   Guiseppe (Joseph) Born  July 8, 1911,   Died December 10, 1974;  Rosa  Born 1912, Died 1913;  Pasquale (Pat) Born 1914;  Rosa Born 1914, Died 1915.

The first Rosa was named after Antonio's mother.  Pat and the second Rosa were twins and she died at the age of 1.

Antonio came to the states in 1915 where he arrived in Pittsburgh for 2 years and came to Cleveland.  He lived in "Little Italy" and tried many times to bring his wife, Joe and Pat to the states, but World War 1 was in progress and the passage was impossible.  They finally left Italy in November of 1920 and got to New York in December.

In 1919 the Fisher Brothers from Norwalk were building carriages and decided to build a plant in Cleveland to make car bodies.  Antonio who had been working for a large building company named Hokin; Conkley, began to work on the building.  He was working there when his family arrived in the states.

It was at this time the Collinwood area of Cleveland was building up an Italian section.  Because of this and the proximity to the plant, Antonio rented a house at 15623 Kipling Ave.  It was here that Louis was born on December 16, 1921.   And a few doors down lived the Sanzo's who had 9 children.

In December of 1921 Fisher Body was ready to start production and Antonio  went to work for Fisher Body in the maintenance department.    In 1924 Antonio bought a lot next to the Sanzo's and started to build a little home with the intention of building a larger one later.   This is were Mary was born on October 18, 1925.
